Spray-painted vinyl line began at 5” wide at the base of the stairwell, climbed up the wall and ended duller, darker, and thinner (1 11/16” wide) at the sprinkler head. Looking down from fourth floor, the rules of linear perspective caused the edges of the line to appear consistently - impossibly - parallel.
