It felt SO GOOD to be back in my office! Papers hadn’t piled up but the snow sure had.
The “hallway” next to my office aka The Mossy Catwalk. Less mossy, still strut-worthy.

I drew these little 10-min “love notes” throughout my week there, but now home, I wonder if they are love notes from me to HB or vice versa.

Enter Oika’s concept of Timeless Play…and you can bet your board that after these play sessions, insights abounded.

We’d hike up to Weir 4 or 5 (5 is in the background there!) and then sled / snowboard down. It may have been 4 degrees but the light was worth every eyelash icicle.
After riding back down Hubbard Brook Rd, we’d turn onto Cant Dog, sit at the brook, and drink tea. Unlike the Fall, it wasn’t about trying to hike as much of the forest as possible. Rather, it became a ritual that honored the rhythm and offerings of the season.

LOOK AT this layering technique. I mean is there anything this forest can’t do?

This was the branch from which I made my last piece back in October. It’s also the most downstream part of the brook on HBEF property. In October, this spot felt like a party with all the watersheds joining together to dance out of HB. In January, it still felt like a party but this time, we were included in the celebration.
